1) Can essential fatty acids be taken with other supplements?

The answer is yes. Essential fatty acids can be taken with a wide variety of other supplements. Essential fatty acids are extremely well tolerated, natural, and of course safe to use every day. This is why Omega fish oil has become such a popular, highly recommended nutritional supplement. We have the majority of our patients that are involved in nutritional programs include essential fatty acids as part of their dietary regimen.

2) Will essential fatty acids interfere with my medical condition or medications?

Essential fatty acids are natural blood thinners and are not recommended if you are taking high doses of aspirin, using blood thinners, or anticipating surgery. If you are diabetic or have other health concerns, you should check with your healthcare professional before taking essential fatty acids.

3) How long before I see results?

This oftentimes depends on the concentration of the oils that were used, your current nutritional state, dosage, and particular ailment or condition. Some consumers report results in as little as a week while the average is about 8 to 10 weeks. For best results, reduce your intake of saturated fats and trans fats, especially deep-fried foods and hydrogenated oils.

4) Will I experience any side effects?

Consumers typically report they have more energy and greater mental clarity. If you have not ingested oils for a long period of time, your body may not be manufacturing the fat digestive enzyme lipase used to metabolize oil. It will take about a week of your body to develop the enzyme.

5) What should I look for when choosing an essential fatty acids supplement?

Purity is really the key followed by freshness and taste. Many people dislike taking fish oils because of the fishy taste or the burping sensation after taking fish oil.  Choose a high quality supplement that is odor-free for palatability and freshness.  Check your label to ensure that the level of purity and absence of PCBs and heavy metals have been addressed.

6) Dosage level of fish oil recommended by the National Institute of Health is 2g to 3g of fish oil per day. They found clinically, and there are several research articles that support the fact, that many times the therapeutic doses could range anywhere from 4g to 8g per day.
